Rant. If you don’t hate me, you probably will.

The thing about people like us is that we don’t respond in a realistic, healthy way to getting in trouble or being given negative feedback/consequences. The irony? This ‘character flaw’ is what gets us in trouble in the first place. So we fuck ourselves over in a really predictable, cyclical, patterned way. Perpetuating the negative consequences. Self-sabotage, self-hate, self-pity, SELF is the key. Nobody but yourSELF to blame. Yeeha. So what’s a reasonable, rational reaction to getting in trouble for shooting yourself in the foot? Definitely not shooting yourself in the other foot. But that’s what we do, time and time again. Until we learn. Or we don’t. Either way there’s no need to point fingers. ‘Normal people’ have to abide by the rules, why shouldn’t addicts and alcoholics and bulimirectics? Don’t give me that bullshit about how it should be viewed as a disease. Like cancer. Fuck that. You don’t have any choices when you get cancer. And you don’t lose your job over it. You quit, resign, go out on disability. Because you have a legitimate reason to be sick. It’s not in your control. Us? We should know better. And if we don’t, or can’t, it doesn’t matter, we’ll get treated like we should. So don’t tell me you view it as a disease, because your actions speak louder than words too.

  1. No panicking! I’m fine. Just frustrated with myself.

    • And I think the difference lies in if you’re trying to change. And I guess sometimes that’s hard to tell and it’s not enough…you should be doing more…EVERYTHING it takes. As if your life depended on it. Because, you know what? It probably does.

  2. I know, I know, a better comparison is diabetes or something. You’re responsible for managing it once you are aware you have it…but there’s still more stigma and sick days def aren’t viewed the same.
